Under the Hat
She donned the hat. Of course she did. Without hesitation. Some things call to you, and there is little reason to resist. Her grandmother's hat, all dusty from the box in the top of the closet, was one such invitation. She put the hat on her head, and was transported into a world beyond her world. Even then, she knew she would write of what she experienced. She knew the words. It was only a matter of seeing the world for what it was and what it might be. She lifted the goggles over her eyes and saw the possibilities of wonder for the first time.
